I admit I am having a bit of a love affair with Green Quartz at the moment. Green Quartz goes by many a name, including Praeseolite and Green Amethyst (although I take major issue with the last one, as a Gemologist, since Amethyst refers to the variety of Quartz characterized by its purple hue). Whatever you call it, it looks great on a lot of people, including the beautiful blonde woman who commissioned this set. The quartz is in a cushion shape with a ‘checkerboard’ facet pattern on top – a pattern that many associate with David Yurman. I think it does an excellent job of bouncing light around on larger stones such as this. I kept the setting really simple and emphasized clean lines.
Pale green, clean lines, yellow gold, blonde hair. And she was tan. And it was good.
