Projects and Musings from a Diamond District Dropout

Sunday Spotlight: Anna Sheffield

Anna Sheffield is changing the world. Alright, maybe a slight overstatement, but she is definitely shaking up the world of fine jewelry and bridal/engagement rings. Very few bridal designers are embracing the mixture of metals and textures that Anna relishes in her rings. I love that she bucks convention with the mixture of metal colors – gone are the days of ‘matchy-matchy or bust’:

I also really appreciate the way she crafts her accompanying wedding bands. The presiding trend of yesteryear was to sell the engagement ring and wedding band as a set, and have the wedding band hug the engagement ring perfectly. Still a lovely look when executed well, but it is definitely no longer the requirement. Anna’s wedding bands follow a basic arc, allowing them to accommodate a number of different engagement rings. I particularly like that this also allows for a stacked appearance which is delightfully on-trend at the moment.

Anna is from New Mexico and describes her designs as “talismanic,” which is quite the appropriate descriptor. She does craft other fine jewelry in addition to her bridal sets, and though I think she really excels at bridal, here are a few of my favorites from her other collections:
