I had the pleasure of meeting these lovely sisters at the Couture show in Vegas this past year. Aside from being generally wonderful people, they also had really quality Mast Brothers chocolate on hand in ADDITION to their exquisite jewelry line. Good stuff. As a fairly new-ish brand (started in 2011) it is really great to see that their creations are already gracing magazine spreads and garnering attention.
My favorite part of this line is the mixture of textures and metals. Sorellina describes it as “a harmonious dichotomy by seamlessly blending opposing ideas of feminine with masculine and vintage with modern.” Featured in many of the designs is a blackened or darkened metal, typically oxidized silver, that provides an excellent contrast to the warm yellow gold and the bright stones. It is a look that I am really into right now! It is also the hallmark of some more vintage designs that pass in and out of trend, but maintain their classic appeal regardless.
Snakes and serpents are a big symbolic theme in the line, and are featured in the earrings above. I would also like to call attention to the clasp mechanism in this particular pair – you can see that the shiny gold section bends backward to release the post, and snaps back into place to recreate the seamless line of the serpent. Really clever engineering, and the kind of feature that differentiates designer goods.
Everything from dainty to definitive, this line is the best of many worlds. Be sure to check out their website here. Pieces from these collections and others can be found at a selection of fine retailers, so plan to visit! Oh, and see about that Mast Brothers chocolate…really good stuff.
